Visual Acoustics

I'm looking forward to seeing this film that is screening in Berkeley, starting tomorrow, November 6th.
The film profiles the life and work of Julius Shulman, who was an American architectural photographer that passed away earlier this year.

Shulman's career started in the 1930's, documenting the work of many progressive architects, such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His visual work helped these great architects gain mass recognition through his imagery. The film is narrated by Dustin Hoffman. It shows for one week at Shattuck Cinemas.

For more information on the screenings in Berkeley and all over the country, check this website.

DJ Lance Rock

Yuri's adorable nephew has done it again (he's done it well before)! Look at his Halloween costume. He's DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba. His crafty mom even made him a trick or treating boom box!

Here's real DJ Lance Rock for comparison, pretty good, huh? (photos by E. Ono)

And speaking of DJ Lance Rock, watch him do some record shopping at Amoeba!

Bakerella Inspirations

Trix Out Your Treats from Bakerella

This post is for my friend Yummy (aka Jamima) to admire, along with anyone else that might care about looking a pretty photos of sweet treats. Last weekend, Yummy was baking things up like she was a regular Martha, getting ready for her one-year old's birthday party.

With Halloween on the rise, and some inspiration from Yummy and Bakerella, I think I might want to do some theme-style holiday baking of my own. Maybe I can get it out of my system before the actual holidays come this year and not go completely insane like last year!

To get myself pumped, I've been admiring photos and instructions over at Bakerella. She's a master baker creator. I'm also loving this mini trend right now in baking, where folks are making mini cake pops, mini brownie pops and tiny pies. Food on a stick is always good! Speaking of, some the most amazing pie pops I've seen this year were over at luxirare. Oh my gosh, you must go click over there too, they take baking to the next levels!

Here's some of my possible options via Bakerella:

J. Roaman Patchwork Furniture

Can't stop the textile-inspired posts, if I knew how to upholster furniture (one day), it might look a little like the crazy patchwork pieces from J. Roaman. She's got a fun blog too.

Rug Lust

Spotted this image over at City Sage from an Australia Vogue Living shoot. Since it's got such nice flecks of pink and carries on with yesterday's ethnic textiles musings, I could not resist re-posing. There's a lot I love about this image, with the woodie ceiling, different kind of thick woodie table, pink flowers, city view, even the weird light fixture works. Then what I love most-of-all is the collage-y looking ethnic print rug. So pretty! Vogue Living is my current top shelter magazine, too bad it's an import.
