Oakland Museum of California

Over the weekend the Oakland Museum of California held all sorts of festivities to kick off their freshly renovated building site. I had a chance to take it all in yesterday. After spending $58,000 and closing it's doors to the public for two years, while they re-worked it, it's looking really fabulous. The weather yesterday was ideal for soaking up a little sun on their roof gardens. Here are a few of the highlights.

I apologize for not listing the artist credits for these images. You'll have to go visit for yourselves to figure out the details. The museum boasts to have the biggest collection of California-based art work anywhere. There's plenty for adults and kids of all ages to go and see. It makes me happy to live in Oakland, CA. It should make you happy to visit if you are curious about California history.

Wonderful colors and organic natural forms. Reminds me of a painting like Rainy landscape, by Russian painter Kandinsky, http://EN.WahooArt.com/A55A04/w.nsf/OPRA/BRUE-8EWL66, that I saw at wahooart.com, from where one can order a canvas print of it. Really good place to browse the painter’s work and other work similar to your style of painting.
