Biggest Little City In the World

Perhaps you are wondering whatever in the world brought us on a mini-vacation to Reno. Truth be told, I had read (in Wallpaper magazine) about this casino that had been gutted and turned into a swanky nightclub, named, 210 North. The design was done by Charles Doell of Mr Important Design. His previous design achievements have been the clubs, Backflip and Blush in SF. The description of the newly-revamped place was that the main bar had a massive projection wall that screened electronic art and the VIP area featured lounge beds. The escalator that connects the lounge to the bar is pictured and it is encased by 30ft chain curtains and a custom-made lamps. The bar contains a 5,000 piece crystal wave chandelier crafted by London-based artist Eva Menz. I had a sneaking suspicion that the club was going to be not so our style in terms of the other patrons, but I was looking forward to some over-the-top lounge design. Sadly, we rolled up to the door only to discover that it was not open, either it is not open to the public yet or it was closed on Sunday night. R had come up with plan b that was pretty fun too. We hit up the Peppermill Lounge, which is great, because it is so neon-y and filled with funny fake plants and simulated showers.FYI- Hall and Oates play the Silver Legacy labor day weekend, if you want your OWN Reno getaway. I have a good veggie diner to recommend.

what did the teenagers laugh at? i thought superbad was superkindafunny (esp when seth rogan or mclovin were on screen), but i'm getting tired of the teenage male fantasy fulfillment of apatow-related films. does that make me gay?

Pop Philosopher- They laughed at anything in the durty sexual realm, which was disturbing. I loved McLovin.

Jenn- Yeah, that's the place, Pneumatic Diner, which is in a hotel and next to the river. We saw folks tubing down in the hot sun. It looked fun! Reno's good for a one night-getaway and then you gotta getaway from Reno.
